Keepers of the Quaich: Honoring Excellence in Scotch Whisky
The Keepers of the Quaich is an exclusive international society established to celebrate and recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the Scotch Whisky Industry. Founded in 1988 by leading international alcohol companies, the society was created to promote Scotch Whisky and honor those who have contributed significantly to its production, marketing, and appreciation.
Twice a year, at the historic Blair Castle, the society welcomes new members through the prestigious Ceremony of Induction. Individuals from around the world are carefully selected and invited to join this elite group, having met strict criteria to be considered for membership. At each banquet, a select few distinguished members are further honored with the prestigious title of Master of the Quaich, recognizing their extraordinary commitment and influence.
Blair Castle, the ancestral home of the Earls and Dukes of Atholl, provides a fitting setting for this grand tradition. It is also home to Europe’s only legal private army, the Atholl Highlanders, who play a key role in the ceremony, adding to the grandeur of the event.
A Global Network Dedicated to Scotch Whisky
The Keepers of the Quaich is not confined to Scotland—it has an extensive international presence through its regional Chapters. These Chapters, managed by dedicated members, serve as hubs for networking and promoting Scotch Whisky appreciation worldwide. The society brings together experts, ambassadors, and enthusiasts to ensure that the heritage and quality of Scotch Whisky continue to be celebrated on a global scale
